Callie experienced her first real tornado scare. We had a tornado warning, two touchdowns (or near touchdowns depending on which news channel you watch) one in the next town to the east of us and one in the next town to the west of us.
Normally, Callie is not allowed in the basement. It is unfinished, and she doesn't like the look of the wood stairs so she has never tried to go down....so we made the basement the cat's area. We got our old futon down there, some toys, scratchy boards....it is cat heaven for them to go to when they get tired of Callie trying to play with them.
But, in light of the tornado sires going off and the news telling us to head to the basement....down we went. I had to carry Callie down the stairs.
In great news, Callie is not scared of thunder or lightning. Only thing she was scared of the whole time was the trip down the basement stairs.
We were down there for about 45 min.
At the end, Callie was ready to get back upstairs. The basement is not any fun. No dog toys, no windows to look out, just a few dog treats to keep her entertained.
